The AWB Network

Canada’s universities and colleges in support of global development

AWB’s Network is a consortium of Canadian universities and colleges that support AWB’s mission.

Membership in the AWB Network offers opportunities for academics to share their expertise and knowledge as volunteers in capacity-building projects – projects they may propose themselves – in partnership with institutions in low and middle-income countries.

Engaging in this work gives faculty and staff a global perspective that enriches education and research on their own campuses.

“Being a member of AWB’s Network has been a positive experience for Carleton. Given our significant activity with the organization, it goes without saying that we share and champion your mission of partnering with educational institutions in developing countries around the world in the interest of capacity building.”

– Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon, President & Vice-Chancellor, Carleton University

“Working with AWB, we leverage UCalgary’s unique expertise and capacities in research and education to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that improve the quality of life for children, men and women in low- and middle-income countries. UCalgary’s partnership with AWB is one example of how global engagement has helped spark positive change in local and global communities.”

– Dr. Janaka Ruwanpura, Vice-Provost & Associate Vice-President
Research (International), University of Calgary

The Network contributes directly to Canada’s justly earned reputation as a country that meets its moral commitment to providing help to the world’s most disadvantaged. All Canadians can feel proud that their tax-supported universities and colleges are helping developing countries improve their higher education.
