Katherine Rouleau, M.D., is a graduate of McGill University, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto, and a member of the staff of St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Katherine was one of the AWB volunteers who worked on a study for the School of Medicine at Addis Ababa University (AAU) to help it develop a Department of Family Medicine. As a result of this study, in 2013 the AAU School of Medicine launched Ethiopia’s first training program in family medicine. Within two years it had 18 students in its residency program. This program will ensure that there will be highly skilled doctors for urban and rural areas of Ethiopia.
