Kevin is a retired professor of Teaching and Learning and a long time AWB volunteer.

During his 30 + year career in higher education, he spent most of his time in faculty development helping faculty hone their teaching craft, particularly with respect to online/blended learning and technology enabled/enhanced learning; the rest of his time was spent teaching mathematics and education courses.

Kevin is also passionate about international development and has been involved in several international projects in Africa and Asia.

Currently, Kevin is the AWB Lead Volunteer for the Online Teaching in Higher Education (OTHE) program, a joint initiative between AWB and Aga Khan University. This professional development program is a four-module series using both synchronous and asynchronous programming which focuses on blended and online pedagogy.

Since 2023, volunteers from AWB and faculty members from Aga Khan University have offered the programming as a joint initiative to faculty members from institutions in the Aga Khan Development Network.

In April 2024, Kevin and fellow AWB volunteer, Prof. Norma Ponzoni from McGill University, conducted an online blended course design workshop for faculty at Amref International University (AMIU) in Kenya.

Kevin is now working on the most recent Online Teaching in Higher Education project collaboration – currently underway with faculty members from Turkana University College in Kenya.

Kevin’s initial AWB volunteer assignment was in 2019 with Bahir Dar University (BDU) in Ethiopia. Kevin co-taught two courses; Advanced Research Methods and Post-graduate Seminar II over six weeks to PhD students enrolled in BDU’s School of Law. While onsite, Kevin also assisted in revising the course syllabi and building an online presence for the courses.

“It is a pleasure and a privilege to work with the wonderful folks at AWB. I am passionate about teaching, learning, and development and through AWB I have been able to build relationships with difference makers around the globe. This has given me a more nuanced global perspective – a glimpse into the people and cultures of places I might not have had the opportunity to visit – which has informed my own learning and development personally and professionally. In turn, I hope I have been able to positively impact fellow educators and their students, and look forward to continuing to do so. Asante sana AWB!”
