Jean-Pierre Asselin de Beauville

Jean-Pierre Asselin de Beauville has a Doctorat d’état in mathematics from the Université scientifique et technologique du Languedoc (l’Université Montpellier 2) and a Doctorat de 3ème cycle in physics from the Université Paul Sabatier in Toulouse.

Since 1963, he has successively been an assistant in physics at the Faculty of Science of Alger, a researcher at the Centre of Atmospheric Research Henry Dessens at the Université of Clermont-Ferrand, an engineer in the research unit at the Michelin plant in Clermont-Ferrrand, and an assistant and maître-assistant of physics and computer science at the Université François Rabelais in Tours. From 1985 to 1987, he was maître de conférences and, since 1987, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Tours. In 1997, he became a councilor and in 1998, was named Vice-Rector for programmes at l’Agence universitaire de la Francophonie in Montréal, Québec. He is on a leave of absence from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr. Asselin De Beauville has organized a number of scientific conferences, has been a member of several conference programme committees and editorial boards of scientific journals. In addition, he has been involved in the creation of a number of degree programmes in Computer Science at the University of Tours.

He is the author and co-author of more that 190 articles in the physics of the atmosphere, in statistics, and in pattern recognition. He is also the author of nine books on science. Finally, he has been the director of a number of doctoral theses in his areas of research.
